Children are being raised by relatives when parents are unable to do so with increasing frequency. Most kincare families are dealing with multiple practical and mental health issues. All experience disruptions in attachment and many have endured traumatic separations and losses. Ambiguous or unresolved loss is the most frequent type and is often accompanied by uncertainty as well as stigma. It affects kincare families as a result of parental substance abuse, incarceration, mental or medical illness, abandonment, abuse and neglect.
This webinar will focus on the nature of ambiguous loss, the impact on kincare families and ways to develop strategies to best help them cope. This webinar will also focus on how COVID-19 has caused kincare families to endure many types of ambiguous loss and is having a tremendous impact on their daily lives.
