The COVID-19 pandemic has affected many aspects of our lives including a significant disruption in the ways we manage emotionally challenging stressful events including the loss of clients and/or staff to COVID-19 and other health problems. Many organizations have been challenged to support staff and clients who are grieving and mourning the loss of co-workers and people they serve. The usual rituals we often engage in to mourn and grieve in meaningful ways have been disrupted and made more difficult by the widespread shelter-at-home orders and social distancing restrictions across New York state.
This webinar offers attendees an opportunity to increase their knowledge of the bereavement process and to use this information to develop responses that are meaningful and respectful to those who have been lost and those who grieve their loss.
The goals for this webinar are to:
1. Provide a brief overview of bereavement and grief
2. Highlight key predictors for resilience in the face of loss
3. Review bereavement ceremonies and the function they serve
4. Discuss responses clinicians can offer to the bereaved
