The Community Technical Assistance Center of New York (CTAC) is pleased to invite you to our upcoming Strengthening Trauma Awareness and Resiliency Skills (STARS) offering for providers working with children, youth, parents, caregivers, and/or families in New York State. Please read this announcement in its entirety for full details and note the session dates.
Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) has historically focused on increasing awareness among practitioners about the prevalence and long-term impact of trauma and adversity in the lives of children, youth, adults and families. The STARS training goes beyond TIC and promotes trauma responsiveness among behavioral health practitioners.
STARS provides information and tools to help:
-
Build foundational information about trauma
-
Practice techniques to promote and process conversations about trauma with clients
-
Use motivational interviewing techniques to promote engagement
-
Provide information and psychoeducation
-
Implement regulation strategies, including emotional regulation and co-regulation
-
Uphold culturally competent trauma-responsive care
-
Make effective referrals, including resource mapping and best practices for promoting follow-through on needed services
-
Understand the impact of trauma on providers of care and develop self-care plans to prevent fatigue and burnout
